Just tight enough to be inescapable is enough for me. No need to make them hurt. I want the models to be able to stay in them for a long time. And to come back for further shoots.

Well, as long as the model is okay with it, fine. And a few models seem amazingly capable of slipping out of handcuffs even when they look tight (Charlotte comes to mind). But as long as they’re tight enough to be inescapable, that’s good enough for me; they don’t have to hurt.
